It seemed like back in the 70's/80's everyone was releasing them; Peter Frampton, Kiss, Triumph, Heart, Meatloaf, The Who, Iron Maiden, Anthrax…the list is endless!
Did you ever own any of these now collectible records? Maybe you still have them?
80's Man – Oops, so you did…Sorry!
Did anyone own any of those early 70's A&M British pressings that appeared to be black vinyl, but when held up to a bright light become a semi translucent dark red? They're quite collectible these days.
Jen – Not to worry, based on your answer you're still young compared to me…haaa!

Osi Umenyiora flew way below the radar at Troy State in college, despite putting up big numbers after finding a home at defensive end. He amassed 25 sacks and 39 tackles behind the line of scrimmage in only two years, setting the school record in the process. After seeing minimal action in his first year with the New York Giants, Umenyiora had a breakout year in 2004, playing in all 16 games while starting 7. While doing so, he collected 54 total tackles and led the team with 7 sacks, 4 fumble recoveries, and 3 forced fumbles. He was a force again in 2005 with an NFC-leading 14.5 sacks, and earned his first Pro Bowl trip in the process. Teamed with Michael Strahan, these two dynamic ends have given the Giants one of the best push rushes in the league and have helped restore the Giants to among the leagues elite teams. This New York Giants Replica Mini Helmet is signed by Umenyiora and comes with a BC Sports Certificate of Authenticity.

I've heard/seen a lot of back and forth arguments on this subject, I'd like to know once and for all =D
The argument for black vinyl (virgin vinyl or something similar I've been told it was called) being better is that the sound quality is superior to colored wax, less surface noise/feedback supposedly. Also that it supposedly lasts longer.
Then I was told by others that color is irrelevant when it comes to sound quality. When it comes down to it, it's all about the quality of the original master, or recording. Also, they are made of the same exact thing despite the color difference so why would one last longer than the other?
I've heard people say they only buy black vinyl for listening purposes because of the two reasons I said (sounds better, lasts longer)
Then there's those that do it only because they don't want to play a colored copy, usually because it's of higher collectible value.
I'm not sure what to think, from experience color doesn't sound much different to me.
well maybe. I mean "black" is the default color of vinyl.Maybe the chemical commpound used to change the color, effects the actual hardness of the material. If that's the case then yeah over time the sound quality would deminish , from the wearing down of the grooves. its a good question man i wish i knew the real answer. I'm sure it could be answered just not by me. it could just be that either side of the argument doesn't know what they are saying and just being stubborn to their views. it happens.
